Artist Statement

It should be of no surprise that I love art and chose to be a studio major.  I am so fortunate my parents made sure I was exposed to the arts beginning at a very young age and though it may seem unusual, I really enjoyed every moment. I love the process of art: getting my hands dirty and being in the zone of creating something. I am content working alone and listening to a variety of music where I can just lose myself in the moment.

My style tends to lean a bit towards the abstract. Color is very important to me and my favorite color is purple. However, many of my favorite pieces done this year are black and grey tones. Nature also inspires me and thus I often draw animals.

This past semester I discovered relief printmaking. I will continue using this technique after I graduate. I am hopeful that when people see my work they will find it not only interesting and well done, but pleasing to the eye and fun.
